Five Tuesday-thoughts

After 34 years without wearing a cap very often, I finally love it. I may have been influenced by Anna, who has been very clear that I need to be dressed warm enough for winter. This cap was lost and found in Anna’s tango studio and is now used by me.

I am in a fruit tea phase right now and Clipper is my clear favourite brand with its beautiful boxes.

Hugs make happy and life is so much more beautiful in a relationship.

I am falling asleep on the sofa while watching movies. This hardly ever happened before and it makes me a bit scared. Either I am getting older, or I am just not used to watch movies in these cosy, and sleep provoking, sofas.

Seagull-love. I will associate Malmö and my sabbatical with seagulls! I have heard them outside Anna’s apartment since January, I have seen them everywhere in town and now you can hear them from Håkan´s bathroom (!) at night before you go to bed and right after you wake up in the morning.

A family day

We celebrated my grandfather's ninetieth (!) birthday today, all relatives joined and we had lots of food and cakes. Just what a birthday celebration is all about!

To keep in touch

If you have lived abroad for a while, you probably know that it gets even harder to keep in touch with your friends back home. Right now, it is the other way around for me: I have lots of time for friends and family in Sweden, but I have to be satisfied with texting and calling my friends in Switzerland... Sometimes I think I should get in touch more frequently, but I also want to truly absorb myself in Sweden and my life here and more time for socialising is one of the best things with a sabbatical. Today I met this lovely friend and gangsta gal in Malmö.

It's still cold in Sweden, but the sky has been blue for many days now.

Konstrundan

It feels so good to celebrate Easter again. I can't remember the last time I had a real celebration with feathers and eggs and family and all that stuff. The best with Easter in south Sweden is Konstrundan where we went today. Konstrundan is an art exhibition where artists open up their studios and homes to visitors for two weeks. We started with the western part of Skåne today, and combined art with some sightseeing, outdoor lunch and a fika in Råå.

Early bird or night owl?

Are you an early bird or night owl, or are you maybe lucky enough to be both? I am for sure a night owl and one of the things I was looking forward to the most with me sabbatical was to be able to sleep as long as I like in the morning. And so I do, but it doesn't mean that I sleep more than usual. Nope, to be honest, I think I've never slept less than during these last months. There is so much I want to do, and with Anna as your flat mate, you definitely never go to bed early. No, you stay up until it's dark in all other apartments and when I was walking her dog before we went to bed, it happened that I met the newspaper carrier... Today, I decided to see what it's like to wake up early. The alarm went off quarter to six, I went by bike to the train station enjoying a beautiful sunrise and I was then nothing else than a mobilezombie on the train to my parent's place. My conclusion: the bed is my best friend before 8 AM, but also the morning has its beauty and you don't die if you change your habits and wake up early once in a while.

Swedish meatballs

I have mainly been cooking Asian food for a couple of weeks, followed by a week with more vegetables than usual and now it´s time for a week with traditional Swedish food. Et voilà, here is a proof of today's result.
